Hi Tammy,

Honestly,

I don't know what to believe...

I am basing my information off of a Zwar family history book that was written by a Zwar descendant. I am unsure of where her family stories came from and if they were even truly correct??

In the Zwar family book (has you relative seen this book??) it states that Christian and Augusta took their child Friedrich from Poland to Volhynia in 1862. Later in life Friedrich took his family to Canada.

It later states that their other son Johann Zwar (and brother of Freidrich) came to the United States with his two oldest children Emilia and Gustave in 1914, to North Dakota. Then it say: One sister, Johanna Caroline Zwar, immigrated with her husband, Rev. Gustave Frigang, in 1913.

From all of this information, I am to believe that the Johann mentioned would be the son of Christian and Augusta.

This written story follows true to the stories we were told that my Oma and Opa were second cousins. My Oma was descended from Friedrich's line and my Opa was descended from Johann's line.

If of course the marriage record stands and Johann's parents are Carl and Julianna, then nothing my family has stated is true. Does this make sense??
My cousin and I also have had our DNA tested and we share more DNA together than I do with cousins on the other side of our family, suggesting we are doubly related with more shared common ancestors.

My Uncle read the marriage record and he said that the names listed were not parents. He said they were witnesses. Does anyone else know if this could be the case???
