Hello Debbie. I do have the ship manifest for my grandfather's ship. He was on the Ivernia out of Trieste and landed New York August 17th, 1913. There is one big mystery that I have not solved and maybe never will. At some point he changed his surname to Manos from Rinas (or Rienas, etc). Maybe to hide the fact that he was German during the war? He was in the US Army in WW1.

He arrived in America with a wife named Johanna, but I do not know her maiden name. Neither do I know his mother's name. Only heresay from my dad that his father's father was called J Friedrich and his brother was Ernst. Ernst is listed as next of kin on the ship manifest. It is a confusing case with changes and apparent misspellings.

My grandfather and his wife wanted to go to Canada, as I said, but they were turned away, apparently because they did not have the entry fee. They were allowed to stay in America.

I am attaching the ship manifest. I don't know if this will work.

Kevin
