Researcher: Lutheran Shitomir Records St. Petersburg
English speaking Canadian. I am looking for a in-person Russian research contact in St. Petersburg who would be able to access the non-digitized German Lutheran Archives in St. Petersburg for 1886-1889 to look for my Great Grandma's birth record. The digitised Lutheran archives widely available via familysearch.org end in 1885. It would be looking at the Shitomir Parish (Zhytomyr Region).
I'll check back here for responses and I think you can email me - danke schon!
I believe my Great Grandma was born in 1885, but the publicly available Shitomir Parish Birth Records for 1885 include hundreds/thousands of 1882, 1883 & 1884 births. Many births were recorded years late. If My Great Grandma was born in 1885, she could be on the 1886-1889 birth records. There is also a possibility she was born in 1886 or 1887.
I have tracked my European-orphaned, German speaking Great Grandma to arriving and living in Canada in 1900 with a German Lutheran Volhynian family from the Shitomir Parish. I can confirm the parents of the family she came with were born in Shitomir around 1860, married in Shitomir around 1880 and left for Canada in 1900. Those parents likely never left their Volhynian village and perhaps adopted/god-parented my Grandma through that connection.
