Thank you for your research and sorry for the late reply! Unfortunately, Eduard Julius Brandt is not the Eduard I am related to as his father's name was definitely Gustav and he was born in 1888, not 1883. I think it might be more likely that Eduard was a younger brother of your great-great grandfather August.

Eduard Brandt wasn't sent to Omsk, but to northern Kazakhstan somewhere around Akmolinsk (which is Astana today). My family later lived in Pervomaika, Kazakhstan.

I'm curious to know what you found out about Gustav Sr. and the other Brandts who migrated from Prussia! Is this information available online?
