I am still searching for the Wappler Family. My father was Andreas Wappler, his father was, Adolf Wappler, and his father was Emil (Friedrich) Wappler. Other members of this family were Rudolf, Martin, Olga, and unknown Wappler. The unknown Wappler was my father's brother. All contact was lost with him during WWII. He did have a family.

Erika,
When you post your query, you need to let us know the facts you have on your ancestors. Where is your family from? Did the Wappler family come to Germany during WWII? Any chance that Rudolf, Martin, Olga, and that unknown Wappler are still alive (no birth dates given) or are you looking for their descendants?
Also, it is good to let people know what you have tried. Did you look for your ancestors in the Berlin Document Center records? Have you tried the German Red Cross and the HOK (Kirchlicher Suchdienst) of Stuttgart? Etcetera.

Irene,
Thank you for your reply! My Wapplers were born in Konin, Dombrowka, and surrounding region. I have contacted the Red Cross regarding my father's brother, the unknown Wappler. They couldn't help me. Can you give me the addresses of the Berlin Document Center and the HOK? I also wish to mention that my father and his family were deported to Siberia. I am interested in finding out if there are any other descendants of my Great-grandparents, Emil and Julianna (Morach) Wappler. I do have a photo of my unknown Wappler with family taken about 1948-1949 with Russian writing on the back. I was able to get the writing translated.
Thank you again,
Erika

Erika,
The HOK (Heimatortskartei, Kirchlicher Suchdienst) has a special form, but you may also send a query without that form. Write down as much as you know about the family members you are looking for: name of parents, wife/husband, children, birthdates, places where they lived, profession, when they left Poland, who you are, how you are related to them and the reason why you want to get in touch with them.
If they have a WAPPLER from the Konin area in their Database they'll try to contact him. They will not forward his address to you, only if the person writes back to tell them they are allowed to do so. This procedure will take some months and there is a fee involved.
Regarding the records of the BDC - the National Archives in Washington has microfilm copies. Part of it, not all, is also available at Family History Centers throughout the world. Note that you will find relatives among the Berlin Document Center records only if they applied for German citizenship during the period 1939-1945. For more information see:
