1. In Polish, Sand = piasek. A village named Piaski is known as Sand in German. Villages such as Piaskowice, Piaskowo, etc. are all variations of this and might be known as Sand... dorf / berg, etc. There are numerous villages in Poland with variations of that name and several near Lodz.

2. How near is, "sehr nahe"? It can be a problem to decide if this means within 10 km, 40 km, or 100 km. So for example, one can also find the known village of Sandhoehe (= Kecerczyn) which is a short distance south of Przedecz. It should at least be considered as a possibility even though it seems rather far from Lodz.

Hallo Wolfgang,

auf den Karten von Jerry Frank ist kein "Sanddorf" zu finden, aber nordwestlich von Lodz ein Ort "Sandberg = Piaskowa Gora", direkt südlich von Aleksandrow. Südwestlich von Zgierz lese ich gerade die Ortschaft Piaskowice. Vielleicht ist einer davon der gesuchte Ort. (vgl. Blatt 37-52 des österr.-ung. Kartenwerkes)

wurde eine unserer Familien in den Ort "Sandorf" oder "Sanddorf"
untergebracht. Dieser soll sehr nahe an Lodz gelegen haben.
Meine Suche war bisher erfolglos.
Kann jemand helfen?
